About the Event

We hope this presentation will show how the law can impact the environment and communities.  We'll also share information about how you can address climate change in your home and with policymakers!

Retired New York Supreme Court Appellate Division Associate Justice Marcy Kahn and Retired White & Case Environmental Law Partner and Columbia Law School Adjunct Prof. Rick Horsch, coordinate the Legal Pathways to Deep Decarbonization project (LPDD.org), a pro bono Project with the mission of developing an online collection of model laws that policymakers can adopt to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  The LPDD.org website includes more than 70 model laws as well as more than 2,000 existing laws, best practices, and policy documents touching on 34 different pathways to reducing emissions in the United States, at every level of government (and some in the private sector).

Larissa Johnson, Residential Energy Program Manager for Montgomery County's Department of Environmental Protection--Energy, Climate, & Compliance Division, works on the Department's mission to enhance the quality of life for residents by protecting and improving Montgomery County's air, water, and land in a sustainable, innovative, inclusive, and industry-leading way while fostering smart growth, a thriving more sustainable economy and healthy communities.

Larissa will share with us the four things you can do RIGHT NOW to electrify your home. Once you make these changes, your home will be more comfortable, your indoor and outdoor air quality will be healthier, and your monthly bills will be lower!

Then Rick and Marcy after a short introduction about climate change will describe the LPDD Project and discuss how you can participate.

We will have time for questions at the end of the presentation too.

Zoom link will be shared upon registration.
