About the Event

Please join Barnard in Washington for a special tour of the exhibit “Brilliant Exiles: American Women in Paris, 1900 – 1939”  at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery (https://npg.si.edu/exhibition/brilliant-exiles).

This exhibit shares the stories of American women who chose to move to Paris to pursue their aspirations in wide-ranging fields including art, literature, dance, publishing, music and fashion. An impressive number of these women not only participated in important modernist initiatives but also led them.

Barnard’s 3 pm tour will be led by Ms. Robyn Asleson, Curator of the Prints and Drawings Department at the National Portrait Gallery (https://npg.si.edu/staff/robyn-asleson).

This event is free of charge for alumnae who have paid membership dues to Barnard in Washington for the 2024-2025 calendar year.  For alumnae who have not paid dues and for guests (one guest per alumna), tickets are $10 each. (Note: since we anticipate this event to sell out quickly, please email biwclub@aol.com to be placed…
